Students entering 1st grade in Fall 2024 and students entering 7th grade after Spring 2023 are eligible to attend elementary academies!

Nature Trail Academy (1st – 3rd Grade)

The Nature Trail Academy introduces early learners to the natural sciences. Students will learn about the plant life cycle, plant parts, seed dispersal, and capillary action. The Nature Trail Academy merges science with art by incorporating nature hunts and plant collections to aid in the extraction of plant pigments! Students will learn to make their own art using natural watercolor paint, and by creating nature impressions!

Storybook Engineering (1st – 3rd Grade)

This Storybook Engineering Academy is a play-based academy focused on learning the basics of engineering through storytelling! Students will engage with specific age-appropriate storybooks that merge engineering with topics such as resilience, re-designing, inventing with empathy, biomimicry, and material selection.

Weather Discovery Lab (4th – 6th Grade)

In the Weather Discover Lab, students will explore the water cycle, temperature, weather, climate, and even the earth’s atmosphere! This academy will also explore earth ecosystems, and solar systems! Students will end this comprehensive academy learning how to take steps to help reduce their environmental impact to help address climate change!
Young Engineers Toolbox Academies (4th - 6th Grades)
The Young Engineers Toolbox Academies are a selection of 2-day academies that offer different focuses within the field of engineering and invention! Students can be registered for multiple academies in the Young Engineers Toolbox. Each academy offers a different focus.
Young Engineers Toolbox: Mechanical Engineering Academy

Academy Description: Young Engineers Toolbox Academy will introduce students to mechanical engineering by designing and building various machines using the engineering and design process. In this two-day academy, students will engage with levers, pulleys, wheels, and gears!
Young Engineers Toolbox: Energy and Materials Academy

Academy Description: This Young Engineers Toolbox academy introduces students to materials, properties, strengths, friction, and the basics of energy. Young engineers will use the engineering and design process to learn about simple and parallel circuits, build their art robots, and experiment with various materials to assess strength!
Young Engineers Toolbox: Aerospace and Robotics Academy

Academy Description: In this Young Engineers Toolbox Academy, students will learn about aerospace and robotics engineering. Students will take a hands-on approach to learn about concepts including aerodynamics, engines, and sensors while applying the engineering and design process!

Academy Description: In this Toolbox academy, your young engineers will be immersed in the world of scribbling! They will scribble their ideas and designs on paper, to solve problems by inventing solutions, building their creations, and testing them! This academy is designed to be imaginative, play-based FUN!
