We are excited to have your student for Bobcat Summer STEM Acdemy 2024!
Here are some Frequently Asked Questions we hear from parents/guardians:
1. Where do I drop-off and pick-up my student?
Please drop-off students at 8:30am on the day of each workshop and pick-up students at 3:30pm at Champion Way behind the Health & Athletics Center on the UC Merced campus.
2. What happens if I want to pick-up my student before 3:30pm?
Please email calteach@ucmerced.edu with your student's name and what day and time you'd like to pick-up the student early. We will have a staff member bring the student to the pick-up location at the requested time. Please try to notify us in advance, preferably on the morning of the early pick-up day or sooner. Thank you!
3. What happens if I have to drop-off my student late (after 8:30am)?
Please email mgonsalez2@ucmerced.edu with your student's name and what day and time you'd like to drop-off the student late. We will have a staff member bring the student to the drop-off location at the requested time. Please try to notify us 24-hours in advance. We advise parents/guardians to try and drop off students no later than 8:45am (this is a firm maximum, our staff will not be there after 8:45am) so students can participate in every lesson of their workshop. Thank you!
4. What happens if my student tests positive for COVID-19?
If your student has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 5 days they CANNOT attend our workshops. Students must have a negative COVID-19 test result prior to attending our workshops if it has been longer than 5 days after a positive COVID-19 test result. If you have any questions please contact our Special Programs Coordinator, Mariah Gonsalez at mgonsalez2@ucmerced.edu
5. What should my student bring to the workshop?
Please have students bring a reusable water bottle with them each day of the workshop. We advise that the students wear comfortable walking shoes and long-pants if they are doing an experiment (the instructor will communicate with the students if this is necessary).
6. What is included in the workshop?
Students will have 2 snack breaks and lunch provided each day. If they are participating in a middle school workshop, the students will have an hour of recreation time after lunch. Our workshops include multiple hands-on activities and fun experiements throughout the week!
7. What happens if there is an emergency while my student is in the workshop?
